This is basically a high school BL where two guys who have nothing going on in common somehow end up getting really close to each other, and that's kind of the whole point of the title too. There's barely any drama or fluff packed in here, it stays pretty straightforward the whole way through. A little bit of friction pops up here and there, but it's nothing compared to what you'd normally get in this kind of show. Runtime wise you're looking at 8 episodes, each one sitting around 25-30 minutes. The two guys carrying the story are Akira and Kanata, and funny enough they knew each other's faces way before they ever knew each other's names. Kanata's the type everyone likes, always got people around him, popular guy, but there's this distance to him that people can't quite place. Turns out he had an injury that ended his football days, and that's what pushed him into being more withdrawn, and it only got worse once his younger brother got picked...
Set in an engineering college, "Perfect 10 Liners," is a group comprising extraordinary students from various years, also sometimes owing to their looks, almost like an exclusive club within university. Since one of our leads from every story belongs to this club, I guess hence the title. Arm is a new guy in college and gets selected to join this group. When Arm posts a photo of third-year civil engineering student Arc, unaware of the prohibition against doing so on the 'Engineering cute boys' page, Arc sends him a harsh message to delete the picture. Detesting Arc's rudeness, he develops a dislike for Arc before learning that Arc is his third-year mentor. Despite his reservations, Arm finds himself interacting with Arc with some frequency, for mentorship and otherwise. What Arm doesn't know is that he's been let into Arc's inner circle because Arc was smitten with him at first sight. The next set of 8 episodes reveal how they eventually fall in love.
A year later, a new student Gun joins the college. Hapless as he is, Gun manages to break a bathroom faucet. Fortunately, a classmate comes to his rescue. He thinks it is Faifa to whom he expresses his gratitude, but eventually realizes it was actually Yotha, who is Faifa's older twin. Yotha gets selected for the Perfect 10 Liners group. Yotha is a very quiet person and hiding some secret. It turns out that he has some kin of grievance from his mother who chose to take Faifa with her after divorce and hence Yotha is just always angry with everyone. Gun can't sleep in the dark due to an unfortunate childhood incident. This is a problem for his roommate who can't tolerate sleeping with the lights on. Yotha, however, has no such issue and offers to switch places with Gun's roommate as he rarely returns to the dorm at night. Yotha keeps his promise, disappearing after dark and returning in the morning. GUn, with his inquisitive and friendly nature eventually wins Yotha's friendship and his heart.
Another year passes and the new student Wine becomes the latest member of the Perfect 10 Liners through the lucky draw. His second-year mentor is Yotha preoccupied with his boyfriend, leaving him with little time for his mentee. Stepping in, friendly Faifa takes over the role and looks after his older brother's mentee. Faifa and Wine had met a few times when Wine was in school but used to visit the university in hopes that one day he will study here. Wine is a quiet shy kinda guy, but mostly because he has recently broken up with girlfriend. Turns out that Wine is discovering his sexuality and is unsure how his friends would react if they found out he was gay. Slowly Faifa becomes one of the guys ho is always there for Wine and wants to make sure that he is loved and cared for and in process also they fall for each other. In return Wine helps Faifa in getting over the trauma and Faifa's need to be nice to everyone.
Arc & Arm - Once again we get the "I’m mean because I have feelings for you" trope in this story. This has been done to death bug the saving grace here are two things. One thing is the annoying yet very adorable acting by Arm and how he wants to kiss Arc every time he gets drunk. And secondly the friendly banter that Arm shares with his two friends. That always made me laugh. Here we also have a side love story between Sand and Pond who are friends of Arm and Arc. Again , all these parallel stories are something that could have been avoided.
Yotha & Gun - There was never a dull moment with YothaGun. Al those close up stares with their faces so close, those tie scenes, those sleeping on the same bed scenes, so cute. But damn they were dramatic with their feelings. Gun playing the adorable puppy trope was cute but personally I just dont understand why calling some by a dog's breed is considered loving. I hated every time Yotha would call Gun Beagle or puppy and how much I hat those puppy ears. Having said that I really liked the few scenes Faifa had in their love story and was so glad that he will get his full on story in the last 8 episodes.
Faifa & Wine - Best thing about this couple was their openness to talk about everything. They would not assume anything and would rather talk through things. In the name of Faifa helping out Wine to win over another boy, these two did not waste time in the romance department, straight to kissing. Some of the scenes here where Faifa is shown to be people pleaser were really nice and fun to watch
I am not sure how good or bad of an idea this was to have 24 episodes to make this one big event instead of making three separate season or shows. The so called connection between three stories is this group "Perfect 10 Liners" which, even if removed, would have had no impact overall. Yes, all these couples help each other as time progresses to get close, especially the naughty trip of Arm, Gun and Faifa. Because, believe it or not, things start to feel repetitive after you have seen one of the love stories. Having said that, what I enjoyed more than the love stories in all three of these was the friendly banter that was shared. Arm and his friends, Gun and his group and finally Wine's supportive friends; they all felt realistic where how naughty friends can get. The last two episodes were spent in almost stitching these stories together and honestly it was not needed, but I do understand where the makers were coming from. A lot of places this series will feel so over the top but the quirky comedy and some cheeky dialogues, overall, made it a decent entertainer for me. My favorite scene is when Faifa says "Unbelievable" in story 2. Now, don't ask me why. Faifa, actually might be my favorite character amongst the plethora of leads that this show had. (8/10)
