Koi Naam Na Do (Hindi Series) [Don't Give It A Name]

This Indian series is being sold as a story about a gay man falling for his straight best friend but honestly, at its heart, it's really about friendship and what friendship can look like when it gets complicated and messy and emotionally loaded. It's available on the YouTube channel of Last Leaf Pictures, seven episodes of about 30 minutes each. I had mixed feelings throughout and a big part of that comes down to how I felt about one of the lead characters, but more on that in a bit. Anshul and Kavith are the two men at the centre of everything. They first meet on a train heading to Delhi, both of them not really ready to go back to their hometowns. They get off midway, turn around and head back to Mumbai to give themselves one more shot at the life they want there. Anshul is an aspiring actor with a young son back in Delhi living with his grandmother. Kavith is gay, freshly out of yet another relationship, his 17th by his own count over the years. The two strike up this unusu...

Wild Blade

There are bad films and then there is this! Awful doesn't even begin to describe how bad and totally unnecessary this film is. How does one rate a film less than zero? This film could be used as a torture to make people sit through this and try to not laugh at the absurdity and sheer bad acting/direction all around.

The film is about this comedian and wife. They have apathy marriage and the husband keeps joking to his wife that she is having affair with her best girlfriend (which she is, it seems). After the comedian's sudden death, a man shows up at the funeral saying that the husband was involved in an affair with a mute rent boy and now that he is dead, the wife needs to pay the dues that are owed. She is not surprised by learning of the revelation. This is when the "girlfriend" steps in and says she will take care of it. Meanwhile, the mute rent boy finds some sort of admiration and attraction for the wife, which is never clearly explained. He wants out for himself from this pimp but he would have none of it. The 'girlfriend' and wife come up with some wretched plan where they decide they will threaten the pimp and kill him. In the end the wife (or was it the girlfriend' who dies after being pushed from the roof and the film just as randomly ends as it started.

I am telling you film was just extremely awful right from bad acting to bad story to bad direction. The worse was the so called villain who offs so caricaturist and totally laughable. The script, if there was any, is so random. And to top off all this there is this jarring background music throughout the film which is so damn annoying. I guess it is supposed to substitute for plot and angsty shots of people pouting for extended periods of time. I debated if I should even review the film here, since besides the comedian said to have an affair with a rent boy, there is nothing else gay/queer about this, but then I guess it makes sense, becasue a subject like this won't have been touched those times. Even though the film is just under an hour, no one and I mean not even your worst enemies should have to sit through this atrocity. (0/10)

Drug Shore (Chinese)

Apparently tis film was adapted by a true story Well, true or not, movies/series about drugs are not easy to watch. I have always said that drugs is like the end of life for anyone. For those who sink into this sea of addiction, some manage to swim upstream to recovery, while others cannot make it to the shore. The film may not be the best, but it does have a noble intention to remind everyone of the evil affects of drugs and combining that with sex. Ah Zhe is in a happy relationship with his influencer boyfriend. On his partner's birthday, they end up going to a party, which interestingly is being hosted at a drug dealer's house and this is where for the first time he is exposed to the world of drugs. The duo somehow do it just enough and come back home but next day Ah She gets invited by the dealer Xiao Fei for a meal. The dealer has a soft corner for Ah Zhe, but before anyone realizes, Ah Zhe's life spirals out of control when slowly he starts doing more and more drugs, ...

Sei no Gekiyaku (Japanese) [Dangerous Drugs of Sex]

Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. Unknown to him, he is saved by mysterious man Yoda Ryoji, and he wakes up finding himself tied up in leather and belts in a very BDSM setting. This mysterious saver soo...

Gaya Sa Pelikula (Filipino Series) [Like In The Movies]

Pinoy BL series seem to be catching up to the popularity of the Thai shows. And I must say that they are doing a pretty good job at it. Where Thai series started to get repetitive with so many shows based in a college setting with seemingly similar storylines, Pinoy series are offering the viewers with new and interesting stories and some really good sets and surroundings. This series was 8 episodes of about 25-20 minutes each. Karl, a 19-year old introvert architecture student is in the middle of an identity crisis. Prior to the start of the second semester in college and forced by his parents, he moves into his uncle's condominium unit so that he can learn to be financially independent. Karl takes on odd jobs online to do so. But when one of his major clients suddenly goes MIA, he is left short on funds and without a means to pay for his utilities. An opportunity presents itself when his cocky neighbor Vlad has to hide from his family and proposes to share Karl's space for th...
