Ace and Gio are a really happy gay couple. Gio makes his living as an online sex worker, and sometimes Ace even hops on camera to join him. Things take a turn when Ace brings Gio home to meet the parents, and Gio finds out his boyfriend is actually super rich and comes from a big-deal political family. Ace's mom is a real piece of work and thinks nobody is good enough for her "perfect" son, though Ace’s sister is actually really sweet to Gio. During dinner, it comes out that Gio started this work to pay for his mom’s cancer treatments. Ace's mom senses something is up, does some digging, and finds out about the sex work. Instead of talking to her son, she corners Gio and tells him he'll ruin Ace’s future if he stays. For some reason, Gio just listens to her and leaves without saying a word to Ace. When Ace finally figures out what happened, he has a huge blowout with his mom and runs off to find Gio, which is where the first part ends.
The second part picks up a year later with the two of them living separate lives. Gio is still doing his cam work, while Ace is basically miserable and depressed. Ace’s sister, who stayed friends with Gio, cooks up a plan to trap them in the same house so they have to actually talk. They finally hash things out, and Ace convinces Gio that he should’ve trusted their love instead of just running away. Just as they’re getting back together, the mom tries to start her drama again, but this time the kids stand up to her. They tell her they get that she’s worried, but she has to let them live their own lives. Surprisingly, the mom has a change of heart and finally accepts them both, including Gio and his career choice.I don't have any personal issues with sex work, but it felt like the filmmakers only picked this topic and title to get people to click on it. I get that Gio started it to pay for his mom’s medical bills, but if Ace’s family is really that powerful and rich, you’d think he would’ve helped Gio find a different career path at some point. Gio isn't ashamed of his job, but let's be real—people judge, and unless he just loves camming or makes a ton of money, it felt like he could’ve easily done something else. The acting across the board is pretty average, too. Also we are not clearly told why did they break up. Ace leaves home to follow Gio in first film but couldn't they just had a conversation like two normal adults? The only character who felt like a real person was the sister, especially in the second half. Both movies start with really steamy sex scenes, so it’s pretty obvious who they’re trying to attract. The filmmakers want to say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover and that love is love, but the whole thing is just kind of forgettable.
It’s a pretty standard story that feels like it’s trying too hard to be edgy, and the average acting doesn't help it stay in your mind for long. (4/10)
