Soul Mate (Japanese Series)

Is this technically a gay show? Even after getting through the whole thing, that's still kind of tricky to answer. There's never any physical intimacy shown between the two leads, not even a single kiss. What it gives you instead is something that goes way deeper than that. It traces an emotional bond that spans a full decade between two guys who are both dealing with their own baggage, and what they share basically amounts to being soulmates. The story moves across Japan, South Korea, and Berlin. Honestly, whether people want to call what they have a romantic relationship or not doesn't really matter to me. A relationship doesn't need a label like boyfriends attached to it to actually mean something. And closeness doesn't need to be physical to feel genuine. What this show captures is something quieter but way more powerful, a bond rooted in understanding, respect, and just showing up for each other. Across eight episodes, each running 35 to 45 minutes, this is one...

Henry's Love (Filipino Mini-Series)

This 4 part mini series was amateurish of another level. It felt as if a few kids in a village were bored and they decided to make a series for their own sake and family and friends. I mean, nothing about this can be taken seriously. Thankfully, it was short, only 10ish minutes each episode and almost half of that in every episode would be like soft like where lead just plays with his body trying to seduce.

Henry's sight is failing but his girlfriend still takes all his money and when money dies, she leaves him. The show starts with Henry going blind, and in comes his best friend Alfred from childhood, who promises to help him. Alfred is gay and Henry knows that he has always loved him, so he continues to tease him with his naked body and even masturbating in front of him while being blind. It turns out that he is actually not blind and he is trying to tach his girlfriend a lesson and also see if his friend really loves him. In between trying to seduce Alfred, who refuses to have just sex with him because he loves him, he also finds out how his girlfriend now wants to come back to him after he wins a lottery. But he insults her and he and Alfred get together and the last episode has an almost 5 minute of supposedly sex scene.

This show is as ridiculous as it sounds in the story. Literally shot on one street and a house, I can guarantee you that not one penny was spent on it because probably these people were all friends trying to make something and few people like me ended up watching it. To give due credit, they found a lead who had an amazing body and who knew all tricks to seduce the gay guy. But the flat refusal by Alfred to have sex with Henry when he offers himself up felt weird because all this while Alfred had literally been drooling all over Henry. I am really not sure and no explanation is given on how and when Henry started to fall for Already since everyone keeps repeating that he is straight. But then, when you are watching a show like this, you really just close one part of your brain and hope things will just end soon. Do not waste your time on this. This show was as embarrassing to watch as it is to write this review. (2/10)

The Tuxedo (Thai Series)

When I saw this series with 8 episodes of about 20-25 minutes each, I thought, good: Finally someone has come to senses and made a show which is not stretched out and they have tried to squeeze in a decent storyline in a good small episode format. But unfortunately, despite a decent premise on hand, the clunky writing, bad screenplay and an extreme tasteless portrayal of mental illness makes this show, not a fun watch. By the time it finishes, you just want to laugh off at the entire absurdity of it all. Aioun is talented tuxedo designer and very much in demand but he has handful of clients and he builds suits only for people who he feels a connection to. One night when his younger brother is about to get mugged, he is helped by a total stranger named Sichol. Since he tears his suit in the fight and has an interview the next day, Aioun gifts him a suit form his design as an expression of thanks. Sichol's interview is for. Personal assistant of a man named Nawee, a wealthy heir to h...

Heartstopper: Season 2 (Web Series) (UK)

Heartstopper Season 1 was a universal hit. You could not have read one bad review or heard from anyone who has seen the show not liking it. It was the kind of series that is easy to love, with sweetness exploding out of every scene without overwhelming you. So naturally, when Netflix greenly Season 2, expectations were naturally high and the same happened with me. I didn't know what to expect, but I had high expectations of this very very sweet teenage love story. And with eagerness and being a little late to the game by a few days, here I am, pouring my t thoughts down having just finished one of the most anticipated shows of the year. The second season also has 10 episodes and has all of our loved ones from the original season. The show continues from where it had left off in Season 1. Charlie and Nick are a couple and only their very close circle of friends know about it. This includes Charlie's best friend Tao and his trans best friend Elle. The center of the show is still ...

Gaya Sa Pelikula (Filipino Series) [Like In The Movies]

Pinoy BL series seem to be catching up to the popularity of the Thai shows. And I must say that they are doing a pretty good job at it. Where Thai series started to get repetitive with so many shows based in a college setting with seemingly similar storylines, Pinoy series are offering the viewers with new and interesting stories and some really good sets and surroundings. This series was 8 episodes of about 25-20 minutes each. Karl, a 19-year old introvert architecture student is in the middle of an identity crisis. Prior to the start of the second semester in college and forced by his parents, he moves into his uncle's condominium unit so that he can learn to be financially independent. Karl takes on odd jobs online to do so. But when one of his major clients suddenly goes MIA, he is left short on funds and without a means to pay for his utilities. An opportunity presents itself when his cocky neighbor Vlad has to hide from his family and proposes to share Karl's space for th...
