Is this technically a gay show? Even after getting through the whole thing, that's still kind of tricky to answer. There's never any physical intimacy shown between the two leads, not even a single kiss. What it gives you instead is something that goes way deeper than that. It traces an emotional bond that spans a full decade between two guys who are both dealing with their own baggage, and what they share basically amounts to being soulmates. The story moves across Japan, South Korea, and Berlin. Honestly, whether people want to call what they have a romantic relationship or not doesn't really matter to me. A relationship doesn't need a label like boyfriends attached to it to actually mean something. And closeness doesn't need to be physical to feel genuine. What this show captures is something quieter but way more powerful, a bond rooted in understanding, respect, and just showing up for each other. Across eight episodes, each running 35 to 45 minutes, this is one...
The Brides of Sodom is a weird as fuck post-apocalyptic vampire flick. The story is loose and isn't easy to follow. There was a time when gay films were set in vampire/horror world, but I ant remember a single one of those. No wonder this one also got lost somewhere. It is sooooo bad that I cant even begin to describe it. I will try to describe the plot as best as I understood.
In a post-apocalyptic vampire Eros is a successful vampire who falls for a human and wants to keep him as is. He is sexually involved with his sister (I think). He breaks up with her leading to sister trying lesbian sex for no reason. Meanwhile the leader of this group takes a liking for the human , also because he is not fan of Eros and has sex with the human to put a stop to it all. He curses Eros because of which he does having sex with the human while also turning the human into a vampire. Now the human and the sister are plotting their revenge while having sex to curse the head vampire that involves having sex with him. They team up to steal a book to resurrect a witch to bring Eros back from the dead.
This movie is filled with love triangles, betrayal, conspiring, becoming an outcast, incest, and lots of man on man vampire love. Yes, this movie walks the line between vampire movie and soft core gay porn. I mean I will not even go into acting, production quality and all that stuff because this film left unwatched is the biggest gift you can give yourself. (0.5/10)
