Haunted Desires (Filipino Series)

It is honestly exhausting to sit through another terrible series like this. I have noticed the same group of actors popping up in several of these subpar Filipino BL projects before, and they just don't seem to get any better. The production value is bottom-tier, the acting is painful to watch, and there is hardly enough plot here to even justify calling it a show. I get that a lot of these were made as passion projects during or right after the pandemic, but it is 2026 now, and there is just no excuse for this kind of poor execution. It really should have just been a quick short film instead of stretching it out. At least it only has six episodes that run about 15 minutes each, so you can fly through it pretty fast if you’re unlucky enough to start it. The plot is about as basic as it gets. Urinal (Canada) [Pissoir]

This part documentary and part drama fantasy film is centered around a research project on the policing around urinals and washrooms in Ontario, Canada where gay men were constantly arrested for sexual acts. The film tries to show the lengths that the cops would go including use of plain clothed agents who would entice you and video footage to make easy arrests. Sadly, the execution of the film is absolutely bizarre and totally weird and awful for common audiences like me.

A mystery man brings together a group of dead, gay artists including Sergei Eisenstein, Dorian Gray, Yukio Mishima, Frida Kahlo and Langston Hughes to investigate a police response to the dilemma of wash-room sex in Toronto. The artists have seven days in which to report on the ethics of police tactics. The artists infiltrate the police only to discover that they themselves are under surveillance as a political subversive group. The artists explore and report on the evolution of toilets and wash-room behavior.

The only redeeming thing about the "movie" was the onscreen revelations of those that had been arrested for lewd acts. It never got explicit or graphic, but dwelt in the melodramatic overacting by the historical dead figures. But besides this, the film was an absolute bloody mess. At various times there's artistic coloring of the faces, as if someone is drawing on them or imagining drawing colors on the faces. I wasn't even sure what were the film makers trying to even say here. I mean you can try and justify this piece of crap by any which way you try, but reality is that "weird" is the only way that you can describe this film at all. I am all about indie films, but please try and execute the idea that you have on paper from the point of view of audience, not just your whimsical fantasies. (0.5/10)

Apparently tis film was adapted by a true story Well, true or not, movies/series about drugs are not easy to watch. I have always said that drugs is like the end of life for anyone. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground.
