This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat.  The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. Finn keeps telling himself not to read into it because Aiden's straight and openly homophobic. Things shift when some kids start bullying Finn and the student council president, Ryan, steps in to ...

Obsessed With You (Vertical BL Drama)

This vertical gay drama claims to be a US production, but every character has a thick accent that makes me think the cast or the entire crew was actually from Eastern Europe. I tried to look up more details about where it was filmed, but I couldn't find anything. The official summary describes it as a story where a lonely dancer and a troubled cop find a connection through lies and danger, starting with a rescue that turns into a risky attraction. I’ve definitely seen the lead actors in something else before, though I can't put my finger on what it was. Let's get into the plot and what I actually thought about it.

The story follows Tino, a young nightclub dancer who is stuck under the thumb of a brutal club owner. This guy uses debt and intimidation to keep Tino in line and was apparently a friend of Tino's late mother. Tino feels a massive weight on his shoulders because he’s desperate to help his sister, who is really sick, so he just stays quiet and tries to survive. During a raid on the club, he crosses paths with a police officer named Brendon who is dealing with his own moral struggles. Brendon shows him a bit of kindness, and that one moment of empathy starts a spark between them that they can't seem to shake. Brendon really wants to help Tino and his sister, but he’s totally confused by his feelings since he’s supposed to be straight and is already engaged. Still, he can't stop thinking about Tino. It turns out the club owner is hunting for a stash of money Tino’s mom supposedly left behind, though Tino has no clue it even exists. Brendon and Tino start team up to figure out the owner's secrets and what he’s really after. Along the way, you get the typical drama for these vertical shows—the sick sister gets kidnapped and Tino is blackmailed—but Brendon stays by his side to help him uncover the truth and escape the mess.

The plot kept me interested and the big twist at the end was pretty much what I expected, but there honestly wasn't a lot of heart in the romance. While Brendon seems totally obsessed with Tino, it felt like Tino was only sticking around because the guy was helping him out. The story doesn't really give Tino a good reason to actually fall for this older man. On top of that, the sex scenes felt totally out of place. One minute Tino is frantic and trying to find his missing sister, and the next second the two of them are suddenly tearing each other's clothes off and sleeping together. It made zero sense, and I’m surprised nobody caught how weird that transition was during editing. There were plenty of other moments where a scene like that would’ve actually fit the mood. The actors did a decent enough job, and by now, we all pretty much know what we’re getting into with these vertical dramas. I was actually shocked that Brendon’s fiancée didn't turn out to be some evil villain, which is a trope these makers usually love to jump on. I'm kidding, of course! We still got the "sick sister" plot point, which I feel like I see in more than half of these shows lately. Overall, it’s just a "time pass" watch and another entry in the endless factory of English-language BL content.

It's a typical vertical drama that hits all the usual beats but fails to make the central romance feel believable or well-timed. (4/10)

I think the budget of this film was probably too small, but for that, the film definitely offers a different and unique storyline without over dramatizing anything. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground.
