Coming out of the same studio that gave us RuPaul's Drag Race, and stacked with a whole crew of former contestants, Stop! That! Train! plays like RuPaul basically taking a bow for the entire franchise she's built. It's not really a gay film in the traditional sense, but with so many drag stars from Ru's shows popping up alongside a few cameos from well known out gay actors, I figured it earns a spot on this blog anyway. The whole thing is completely over the top, packed with GenZ slang, loud flashy visuals, and humor that's constantly winking at you knowing how ridiculous it is. Going in you'd assume it's meant to be a laugh riot, and a lot of critics online seem to be eating it up, but I just couldn't get into it at all. I've never really been someone who vibes with campy silly stuff like this, so honestly my reaction doesn't surprise me one bit. The setup follows Tess and DeeDee, two low level stewardesses who sneak onto the fancy Glamazonian E...
I wish I knew before I started watching the film that this is another one of those Japanese pink films (soft porn). I should have read something before, because occasionally films like this one sneak in, which is NOT why I write this blog. I wanna write about non-porn stuff mostly. And this pink films from Japan fall in the grey area. Honestly I thought these were a thing from 90s. I didn't realize that even now some film makers are trying to cash in on the nostalgia probably.
Simple story here.Yuuki is the CEO of a pharmaceutical company. When he sees a young boy named Takeru, he reminds him of a crush he used to have on this guy in his younger days. He follows this boy and his boyfriend to his apartment. Frustrated, he goes back to some guy asking for a potion to make him young and lo behold, Yuuki is now a 23 year old man. He approaches Takeru and they have mad sex. Turns out because of family pressure, this was Yuuki's first time having sex with anyone. Suddenly a man enters, who happens to be Takeru's father Seiji. Seiji was always gay and his son knew about this but they had been estranged for 10 years. He recognizes the young version of Yuuki and they have a wrestling math for some reason. Suddenly Seiji start to feel weak. Since he used to be Yuuki's first love, he tries to get medicine form, which gives him energy for the two of them to have mad sex, only to make Yuuki and old man again and Seiji dies. Turns out Takeru always preferred od men, so he is happy that Yuuki is back in his life.
As you would expect of pink films, there are 3 very long and "artistically" done sex scenes between two men where you don't see anything but you get an impression of everything. I was not expecting much of a plot here. The purpose of the makers was clear and their target audience was also clear. Thankfully it was just an hour long and with double speed, it ended much sooner. The guys looked ok. Although it was funny to see Yuuki in his older version, since clearly they took the young actor, made his hair grey and added a mustache. It was height if fake makeup and just a lazy job. I am not expecting histrionics here. Overall, if pink films are your thing, then go for it. This is otherwise time wasted on soft porn, which, again I wonder, where is the market for it now? (2/10)
