This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat. The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. Finn keeps telling himself not to read into it because Aiden's straight and openly homophobic. Things shift when some kids start bullying Finn and the student council president, Ryan, steps in to ...
Leonardo David is a famous movie director whose career has started to slump. Swallowing his pride, he accepts an offer to make a sexy gay indie movie-the latest box office trend in Manila. He starts auditing for the lead man to play this role. His ex-boyfriend, who left him begs him for a roe but the director declines. He starts auditioning young handsome boys telling them that they will have to be naked in the film. Two candidates really catch his attention. First one is really poor who tells the director stories about how he prostitutes himself and how sis sisters makes him sleep with other men for money and how he desperately needs the role. But he likes the second guy and even sleeps with him and gives him the lead role. The first guy offers himself to sleep with the director which he does, but then tells him he is not selected. The film starts production and almost at the end the second candidate refuses to get naked on screen and confesses that he is a minor and threatens to complaint against director. To save on money, the director goes back to the first candidate and begs him to do the film. He finishes the film, but just before the release, the director is murdered by the jealous ex-boyfriend who didn't a get a role in this film. The film ends with everyone pretending and promoting this film to be the film makers last swan song and how all these actors benefit in the process.
The idea on paper must have been good, but the execution is rather amateurish. Worse I the editing. It is obvious that random seven were shot at multiple times and they feel like they have been stitched together to make a film. Agreed, its a satire, but despite that, the final product should also look like a film which it doesn't. The actors, surprisingly, do a decent job, especially the guy playing the director. It is interesting to see how everyone in their own positions is willing to make compromises and use others to take a step forward. I have no data to say how much closer to the truth actual things are, but having heard stories all across the globe I am quite willing to believe what is shown in the film. But having said that, the film overall is dull and quite boring to watch. You do get to see a few young boys partially naked, but other than that, there is nothing interesting that this film has to offer , which may want me to recommend this to anyone. Thankfully, it was just over an hour. (2/10)
