Chained To My Bully Stepbrother (AI Vertical BL Drama)

This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat.  The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. De Vierde Man (Dutch) [The 4th Man]

A psychological mystery thriller, this film was a weird watching experience for me. Using religion as the background, the film does feature a lot of dream-like/nightmarish sequences with the leading man, often to that extend that you don't always know for sure if he is awake or dreaming himself. This is also not a user film per say, but yeah the lead is bisexual man who is obsessing over another man. So even though the central theme of the film is not gay, the character trait is gay.

Gerard is a bisexual writer. On his way to give. Lecture, he sees a hot man on the train station and completely obsesses over him, but the man soon leaves. During one of his lectures, he meets Christine who asks him to say the night at her place and they have a one night stand. She runs a beauty salon and apparently was married before thrice. Next day, Gerard sees a picture of Christine's boyfriend, a man named Herman, who is the same guy he saw at train station. He decides to stay longer hoping to meet Herman and seduce him. When Christine goes to work, he spends time in weird day dreams. One of the days he sees video reels when he finds out about three of Chirstine's marriages before and how all three men in tragic accidents. Herman soon arrives and Gerard wants him at any cost. When Herman is showing him around the town, Gerard is successful in seducing him, mostly because Herman is star struck with Gerard's popularity in literary circles. But soon Gerard is convinced that Christine is a witch and either he or Herman is going to be her fourth victim. The two men are soon in an accident in which Herman does and Gerard is in hospital. As he is hospitalized, Christine meets another young, attractive man in the hospital lobby, with whom she leaves.

The film uses a lot of Catholic symbols to build the tension associated to smart dialogues including a scene where Gerard dreams of crucified Jesus only in underwear where he is undressing him. I feel that a lot of things in the film are used for shock value. There's strangulation, full frontal male and female nudity, castration, mutilation, simulated sex, a scene in a church with a cross that will shock most people, a gay sex scene in a crypt etc. The basic plot is very simple but is dragged out to nearly two hours before reaching a pointless conclusion. The acting is fine given the film came back in the 80s and its nothing much to write about. Honestly, films like these are not my cup of tea. I am not really sure what the director of the film was trying to say through the many dream like sequences. It was neither a murder mystery nor a sexual thriller despite plenty nudity in the film. It felt more like a hallucinated lead actor and audience just going through the motions of what this guy might be going through. Watch at your own risk. My advice would be to stay away. Its not worth it evener nudity or the mere fact that our lead likes men. (1.5/10)

I think the budget of this film was probably too small, but for that, the film definitely offers a different and unique storyline without over dramatizing anything. Yes, some scenes were a bit amateurish but in the bigger scheme of things, that can be overlooked. The film is both beautiful and sad in its own unique way. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground.
