Chained To My Bully Stepbrother (AI Vertical BL Drama)

This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat.  The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. Finn keeps telling himself not to read into it because Aiden's straight and openly homophobic. Things shift when some kids start bullying Finn and the student council president, Ryan, steps in to ...

Mia & Moi (Spanish) [Bringing Him Back]

I am struggling to tray and explain how to categorize this film . Laced with just 4 primary characters, the film is about family, more importantly the bond that a brother and a sister share with each other. We are not shared much history about any of the four characters, its all subtle and you have to sort of deduce things, but it does make for an interesting story, if not for a very slow execution.

After their mother's death. Brother-sister dup of Mia and Moi decide to spend sometime in their family home in countryside. Moi is joined by his boyfriend Biel. Moi is dealing with some sort of mental, schizophrenia kind of issues and Biel is trying his best to be there for his boyfriend through thick and thin taking care of him, hoping he can being back the guy he fell in love with. The trio spend time getting rest and remembering old times and just taking things really slow in the countryside. Unexpectedly, Mia's ex boyfriend Mikel shows up one day. He is macho, a stoner and a troublemaker and wants Mia back and literally forces himself in the house. He has some sort of control over her, but he also likes to tease and trouble the poor Moi. He has some sort of obsession with him. Since Biel is starting to get tired of Moi's indifference he naturally starts making friends with Mikel. But one day things get too far when Mikel forces himself on Mia and Moi ends up killing him. This event has irreversible consequences on the brother-sister and also the love between Moi and Biel as a couple.

As I mentioned, the story was interesting, but yeah as you would expect how things move slow in countryside, this movie also goes really slow. We are not told much about anyone's past. What sort of trauma is Moi dealing with. He was probably never this way always since Biel tells us he is the only man he has ever loved. Was their father abusive to their mother? Have the siblings duo always been a more submissive kind of personality which makes it easy for people like Mikel to take control and charge? None of this is spelled out and is subtle. You decide for yourself. Mikel's obsession for Moi was real. I bet there are people like him all over. Every character has all kinds of hidden feelings just bottled up inside, ready to explode, but never getting a chance really. This film is truly a character study and it hots right notes most of the time, but having said that , the film dies test your patience, because you want to know here it is headed. The drama doesn't happen until Mikel's arrival and up till that point the story I swore around Moi being in his own head while his love Biel trying to do the best he can to stay put for his lover. I do not mind films like this, which are about surroundings, characters, inner thoughts, underpaid emotions and I connect with such films at some level. But I can see this film not being everyone's cup of tea. Thankfully the actors are pretty good at their job and they also look really good. I just wish I was able to understand Moi's background a little bit more.  (6/10)

I think the budget of this film was probably too small, but for that, the film definitely offers a different and unique storyline without over dramatizing anything. Yes, some scenes were a bit amateurish but in the bigger scheme of things, that can be overlooked. The film is both beautiful and sad in its own unique way. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground.
