Chained To My Bully Stepbrother (AI Vertical BL Drama)

This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat.  The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. Finn keeps telling himself not to read into it because Aiden's straight and openly homophobic. Things shift when some kids start bullying Finn and the student council president, Ryan, steps in to ...

Poolboy (Vertical BL Drama)

One more of those vertical mini series but this time not from Drama Box. This series is US based and like most of the previous ones, this one is to be seen just for pure entertainment. It has all the usual 'masala' like drama, kisses, love, misunderstandings, hot hot guys, lot of abs and with a title like this, we do get to see a lot of skin with our headliners spending most of the time in speedos or swim shorts. 

The two leads here are Aidan and Will. Aidan's father used to run a store that got hammered by a bog corporation incidentally run by Will's father. Because of this Aidan's father left and disappeared and now his mother is very ill and he needs to take of the bills. They are both in swim team and even though everyone wants the hunky Will to become captain, it is Aidan who become captain. Even though Will occasionally teases Aidan, but he always protects him from being bullied by his friends which confuses Aidan. When Will finds out about Aidan's need for money, he offers a job as a poorboy this lavish home for a substantial money that Aidan cannot refuse. The two butt horns initially but slowly they start to get close, even about to kiss a few times but something or other happens. Will has a former girlfriend, who wants to be back. When Aidan finds out that Will has a softer side to him, the duo start to come close, but Will's mother makes it very clear that she wi never accept the relationship. The two boys have to pretend to be apart but are secretly very much in love. Eventually all kinds of drama happens, the ex-girlfriend goes crazy, the two boys declare love for each other, Will gets chosen for the Olympic team, Aidan's parents get back together and forgive Will and his father (who is going through dementia) and eventually Will and Aidan become a HOT couple.

Two things stood out for me in this show. The two extremely good looking hot young men and the crackling chemistry they share. It is not easy to create chemistry like this and works. Will has this devilish charm and he acts his part so well. Same for Aidan, who does this geeky but hot nerdy boy trope extremely well. The way Will pursues Aidan throughout the show was very believable. This is not gay but a strict BL in my opinion, but it does give us a few kisses which is always good to see. Most like other BL series , we do get to see drama from all possible situations which make it for a fun watch, but because it is vertical entertainment format, no conflict lasts long and things get resolved quick, which, in this case, you want it to happen. The last few vertical shows or films I saw were UK based, but it is nice to see something from US as well. A sweet, sexy and filled with love series/film. Amidst the shimmering pools and high school drama, a powerful connection blossoms, revealing that sometimes, the greatest victories come from the most unexpected places. You cannot and should not use too much Brian for stuff like this. Just watch it in the moment, enjoy the terrific eye-candy, savor in the kisses, get entertained and likely forget it in next few weeks. (6/10)

I think the budget of this film was probably too small, but for that, the film definitely offers a different and unique storyline without over dramatizing anything. Yes, some scenes were a bit amateurish but in the bigger scheme of things, that can be overlooked. The film is both beautiful and sad in its own unique way. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground.
