Chained To My Bully Stepbrother (AI Vertical BL Drama)

This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat.  The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. Finn keeps telling himself not to read into it because Aiden's straight and openly homophobic. Things shift when some kids start bullying Finn and the student council president, Ryan, steps in to ...

My Secret Agent Husband: Seasons 1 & 2 (Vertical BL Drama)

This is an American BL that was released in vertical format (suitable to view on phones) on DramaBox. Though the show was released as multiple episodes of 1-2 minutes each, I saw them as a whole series of 2 parts, totaling to almost a 3 hour program. The makers claimed that it was the first American vertical series. I guess I will take their word for it. Season 1 came out in 2024, while Season 2 debuted in 2025 taking the story forward. Since this was released more like a reel format, you have to literally leave your brain behind and watch this show just for entertainment and not for logic and only then you would be able to enjoy the show.

Season 1 introduces us to Lucas, a young heir to an influential crypto company. His father wants Lucas to marry Sophia, daughter of an influential politician (who wants this so that he can embezzle all his black money). Lucas fake announces he is gay and that he cannot marry a woman. In parallel, a man named Michael Wyatt had just infiltrated the company as an employee because secret service wanted to keep an eye on the family's illegal activities. Lucas announces Wyatt as his boyfriend and his fiancé and Wyatt plays along with it. As Lucas and Wyatt continue to pretend as sham gay couple, Wyatt also needs to protect his identity. Pissed with what happened, the politician gets the father arrested and now it's unto Lucas to get his father released from prison. The board appoints Lucas as the CEO and together Lucas with help of Wyatt manage to save Lucas' father and get the politician and his daughter Sofia into prison. In between all this Lucas and Wyatt slowly start to fall in love and by the end, the duo become a true couple.

Season 2 starts with Lucas and Wyatt planning for their wedding. Lucas is thriving as CryptoLink's new CEO, while Wyatt juggles his undercover missions. But just when they think they've found stability, old threats resurface, new betrayals unfold, and their long-awaited wedding ceremony is once again in jeopardy. Sofia is out from prison and now wants to take her revenge. She partners with an ex-employee of the company who was Lucas' first boss and together they both throw rails in Lucas/Wyatt plans. During this time, because of various assignments that Wyatt has to go through, Lucas has a period of uncertainty, but very soon he realizes that he and Wyatt love each other very much. As far as dealing with Sofia goes, after a few blocks, they eventually manage to save their own life but in the process Wyatt dies. Or does he? He comes back alive reminding Lucas that only way an agent can start a fresh quiet life is to first die. Lucas and Wyatt will probably have a good life now.

Both seasons are actually quite refreshing to watch and fall totally in the gay/BL zone. They are clearly made as reels and stitches together. I was lucky to watch the finished version, but I can imagine how annoying it would be, if you had to watch individual episodes. The production quality seems quite alright, especially since it requires a lot of guns and combat scenes. We also see corporate world and some lavish estates on the islands. The actors are slightly over the top, but once the show starts, you get into the rhythm and it doesn't feel awkward. I actually watched it on my phone instead of laptop to get full immersive experience and I must say, that I am impressed by the whole idea. Both the lead actors are easy on the eye and have a good chemistry. Lucas beings in the laugh and Wyatt brings in the sexiness. The show has comedy, drama, action, love creating a balanced and engaging viewing experience. Clever dialogues, coupled with well-timed twists keeps the audience invested. I found the second season to be a significant improvement over season 1. The remaining actors do a good job as well and fit their parts. To be honest, at one point I felt it was a European series dressed as an American version of (in a good way). Overall a good first impression for me. I have gotten my hands on a few more of these vertical form series which I will watch in near future. Let's see if they will feel as good as this one or not? (6/10)

Phor Lae Lukchai (Thai) [Father & Son]

I think the budget of this film was probably too small, but for that, the film definitely offers a different and unique storyline without over dramatizing anything. Yes, some scenes were a bit amateurish but in the bigger scheme of things, that can be overlooked. The film is both beautiful and sad in its own unique way. Aek is a gay dad, whose partner died right around the time their son Nueng was born through surrogacy in a road accident. The relationship between father and son is unpleasant and unstable. We are not really told why, but it seems the father has been unsuccessful in caring and loving his son because of his partner's death. Aek continues to hook up wit hookers. Also, Nueng is constantly bullied by everyone around him for having a gay dad. He has no friends, except Nat, a neighborhood boy, who also happens to be Nueng's boyfriend. In a sudden turn of events Nat is found murdered along with another boy naked. Saddened by the events, Nueng jumps from roof and k...

Sei no Gekiyaku (Japanese) [Dangerous Drugs of Sex]

Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. Unknown to him, he is saved by mysterious man Yoda Ryoji, and he wakes up finding himself tied up in leather and belts in a very BDSM setting. This mysterious saver soo...

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin...
