This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat.  The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. Finn keeps telling himself not to read into it because Aiden's straight and openly homophobic. Things shift when some kids start bullying Finn and the student council president, Ryan, steps in to ...

The Last Time (Thai Series)

Oh my god!! What a royal mess. This series did not know if it would like to be a serious drama or a comedy. So they cobbled all of that together which of course does not make sense in the slightest. The comedy parts are overacted and cringy and the drama parts sometimes gives us a glimpse of what should have been possible and often they feel forced. This was likely made by a new production company. Sitting through 8 episodes of 40 minutes was like sitting through torture.

I will try as best as I can to summarize the story (if there was any). A young boy Arm joins his uncle's company to do internship. He has not finished his studies and this is the deal he has with his uncle to not reveal his secret. The boss assigned to him is named Ryu, with whom Arm had an altercation just outside the offie before he started. So he is now in a predicament. Ryu pushes a lot of work on Arm makings life miserable. Also Ryu is an alcoholic, who lost the love of his life in a car accident. The boss of the company assigns Ryu and Arm to go on a business trip to the province to assess a possible tourist destination. It is here that Ryu and Arm's relationship starts to improve and at some point Arm and Ryu both quit job to live together since they are now in love. I never realized how and when they fell in love. Then there is this office romance between a gay couple full of jealousy and drama. Then we have Ryu's sister who has some of her own drama going on and a visitor girl and they fall in love. And then there are a whole lot of characters who come and go and they have something to do with the story but it is never clear.

The plot is also a mess, even when the core itself could have been good and interesting, but they butchered it. For eight episodes there are too many story elements not brought in a coherent form, jumping from one place to the other. It would have been better just to concentrate on the main & side couple. And even then, this show would have been a jumbled mess that it is. I mean how was this project even approved? The first episode wasn't bad. I enjoyed the miffs between Ryu and Arm and they could have developed that further keeping it a light touch , but no, they had to put in every ingredient of drama, jealousy, love, childhood trauma etc etc. The romance just suddenly happens between Ryu and Arm and there is no actual development there. And I honestly did not understand any of the flashback sequences of what really happened in the past. And at that point I couldn't care less. I feel bad for the main actors who were trying to do their best despite the mess this show was. How can the producer/director think they made anything that is even half impressive? It is particularly bad because you know that money was not an issue here. Only if they tried to get a cohesive story in the first place. Also, the title doesn't make any sense. I feel like I am missing a major chunk of the plot here. Stay miles away from this one. (0.5/10)

I think the budget of this film was probably too small, but for that, the film definitely offers a different and unique storyline without over dramatizing anything. Yes, some scenes were a bit amateurish but in the bigger scheme of things, that can be overlooked. The film is both beautiful and sad in its own unique way. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground.
