Chained To My Bully Stepbrother (AI Vertical BL Drama)

This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat.  The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. Finn keeps telling himself not to read into it because Aiden's straight and openly homophobic. Things shift when some kids start bullying Finn and the student council president, Ryan, steps in to ...

Bizarre Again

I have to hand it to the audacity of these French film makers to try and come up with a sequel to a film that was likely panned by most people. I remember I did not like the film at all and felt that the title totally suited the film. Imagine my surprise when I saw this sequel and once more, there could not have been a more apt title than 'Bizarre Again'. We are back in the world of Maurice and Lucas, this time 7 years later to witness whats transpiring in their life.

We are 7 years later. Lucas and Maurice have never seen each other again and have no contact since the tragic events of the BIZARRE cabaret in New York. Lucas (is he a trans person? I am not sure since it is never clarified or maybe he is gender fluid) now lives in Denver, Colorado. He is married to a slightly older man who is the father of a 16-year-old child. One night Maurice just visits Lucas and sadly a shocking incident happens the same night. John/Lucas' son Marlon has just stabbed two black guys one of whom has died and they are now in shock. While John is sleeping, Lucas calls Maurice and in the dark of night, runs away with Marlon with Maurice's help. The next one and a half hour is about how these three are running away, while John hires a lawyer and makes a plea to his husband and son to come back home. During this road trip, they meet eccentric folks, Maurice and Lucas sort of rekindle their romance. They come up with unique ideas to steal money and clothes to sustain. But towards the end when someone recognizes them, a guy kidnaps Marlon, to likely hand him to the police, but in an attempt to save the kid, Maurice ends up killing the teenager. The film ends in a bizarre way with Maurice and Lucas running away from cops.

This French production filmed in USA road trip follows from Denver towards SanFrancisco through the American West. Its like the first film showed us New York ad this time, its western America. The only redeeming thing about this film is the gorgeous locations and landscapes. The film itself makes little sense. Why would Lucas just run away with John's run to save him without telling John. Sure Marlon was bullied but that doesn't give him the right to kill. Plus what kind of example is being set for the kid with stealing of food and clothes and money. The lead characters have red flags written all over them throughout the film. Their actions make little to no sense at all. I guess at some point the makers were trying to address the issue of Black Lives Matter but in my opinion, they took the total opposite route to prove their point. The original film managed to convey the frenzied nightlife of New York albeit without a coherent story. Unfortunately Bizarre Again has an even less coherent story, and I am schooled they were able to get funding to make the film. Regular seems from first movie are also shown where we see a super young Maurice and how beautifully he has grown into a man. Lucas was meh and a very irrational and illogical person. As actors they did ok, but what can they do when the screenplay itself is problematic. (2.5/10)

I think the budget of this film was probably too small, but for that, the film definitely offers a different and unique storyline without over dramatizing anything. Yes, some scenes were a bit amateurish but in the bigger scheme of things, that can be overlooked. The film is both beautiful and sad in its own unique way. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1.
