Chained To My Bully Stepbrother (AI Vertical BL Drama)

This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat.  The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. Finn keeps telling himself not to read into it because Aiden's straight and openly homophobic. Things shift when some kids start bullying Finn and the student council president, Ryan, steps in to ...

Pre*So: Season 2 (Filipino Series)

I knew exactly what I am getting into for season 2, having just finished the first season. We have almost all of the characters from first season reprise their role in this weird continuation of the story of So, one of the most unlikeable protagonists in BL world IMO. Anyway, more about the story ahead but yeah the weirdness and absurdity of the whole thing has not gone away. In fact the season ends in a lurch with a threat of a season 3. God save us. For now this season has 10 episodes of average 20 minutes.

The first season ended with So's ex-boyfriend Pablo return to him. Having learned no lessons from the past, So falls in love again with Pablo knowing very well that Pablo will oscillate between him and his girlfriend. So also ends up meeting the real Pre, who lives in the same building whose picture was being used by the poser in first season, whose real name is Cruz. Turns out Cruz and Pre are step brothers and Cruz shows up asking for forgiveness, but So is very upset and mad. He also finds Pre to be very arrogant (but Pre is dealing with his own inner demons of sorts). Meanwhile So's straight friend continues to remind him that he should not fall in love again and again and when will he learn his lesson (probably the only logical thing said in this show). Anyway, somehow then the real Pre and So end up going for a pseudo holiday/ photography event where guess what, they end up sleeping together and now So is in love with this Pre. He was apparently hurt by Pablo spending time with his girlfriend. But then after few days of love, they have a fight and So returns home. Here he sees his straight friend talking to the poser Cruz. The episode ends here leaving us hanging. Oh, and also the 'top boy' keeps showing up again this season who apparently goes around sleeping with guys in his building and he ends up attacking Pablo with a knife.

Seriously, what was the point of this series. You create such an idiotic main character, who has zero self respect or an iota of brain of his own. He keeps falling in and out of love like anything and that too hard. One minute he is salivating on Pablo, then on Pre, back to Pablo and all this while also having this secret unsaid crush on his straight best friend (who by the way has his own motives, which we may find in third season if that ever happens). This character of So has got to be one of the most weird characters ever written. Meanwhile Pablo is there in every episode for a long 5-10 sex scene with either So or his girlfriend. He is clearly taken so that his body can be displayed and probably because he shows his bare ass in ever single scene. The character of Pre is intriguing but only part of it is clarified on why he does what he does and his trauma of the past. The show is more like watching an absurd story with a lot of sex and love and jealousy thrown in. And of course, towards the end of end you also get mystery! Makers would have thought, what can go wrong; but this series IMO is just a waste of time. You watch a couple of episodes and you feel like you have seen it all. (3/10)

I think the budget of this film was probably too small, but for that, the film definitely offers a different and unique storyline without over dramatizing anything. Yes, some scenes were a bit amateurish but in the bigger scheme of things, that can be overlooked. The film is both beautiful and sad in its own unique way. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground.
