Chained To My Bully Stepbrother (AI Vertical BL Drama)

This is the second vertical AI BL drama I've sat through, and honestly I went in knowing better. I had it on while I was doing cardio at the gym, and what struck me was just how much the plot echoed the last one I watched. Same step brother romance angle, same mystery girlfriend showing up near the end, same extra guy pining after one of the leads. Genuinely the only thing going for it was the runtime, the whole thing wrapped up in forty five minutes flat.  The setup kicks off with Finn moving schools because his mom just married into money. He finds out his new step brother Aiden goes to the same place, and he's warned to keep his distance from him. Their first run in at school is rocky, just like you'd expect, but there's this odd pull between them neither can shake off. Finn keeps telling himself not to read into it because Aiden's straight and openly homophobic. Things shift when some kids start bullying Finn and the student council president, Ryan, steps in to ...

Quem Vai Ficar com Mário? (Portuguese) [There’s Something About Mario]

It took me a while to figure out whether this film is going for drama or comedy or something in between. First 20 minutes or so, I was confused. The minute I would think they are going for over the top comedy bits, something serious would suddenly crop up to throw me off. But having seen it now, It was definitely supposed to be this comedy, over the top film, full off people, awkward situations, gags, laughter etc.

Mario, a writer, lives in Porto Alegre with his boyfriend Fernando. He comes from a very conservative family, who think he is out doing his MBA. When he decides to visit home, he makes up his mind to come clean to his very conservative father. He confides in his brother of his plans. But to his shock, his brother steals Mario's limelight by coming out first at family lunch table, taking everyone by surprise. The father gets upset and kicks him out. Enter Ana, a consultant who was hired by Mario's brother to help the family's beer company. Oddly, Mario finds himself getting very attracted to Ana and end sup sleeping with her. When he is back home, he finds Fernando, his boyfriend has showed up as his friend and so have some other gays form his troupe, trying to figure out what has happened. When Fernando finds out the truth about Ana and Mario, he is upset and ends up sleeping with another guy. Its inly later he finds out that the person is none other than Mario's brother. Mario is super confused as to why he is falling for both Ana and still in love with Fernando. Meanwhile the brother starts falling for Fernando. Its a big mess, while the whole troupe prepare for a big beer launch party of a new gay pink beer.

The opening dance number kicks of the film to a festive and fun beginning. Mario's character is supposed to be this confused, goofy guy who is clearly very gay but also finds himself very attractive to this one very bossy girl. Somehow, as an actor I felt that Mario really couldn't portray everything that he was supposed to. Fernando was pretty good. Vincent, Mario's brother was alright but his part of the story is never really fully explored and is very half baked. The real fun begins when the gay friends show up this house pretending to be straight and the various hilarious incidents that follow. In fact, his father even starts falling for the drag queen. There is never an explanation given to reasons behind the father's hatred for gay even thought his niece keeps saying this is 21st century. I am glad that this was not a drama because somehow that would have not fit very well. Overall the film keeps you entertained with some mindless but fun comedy, which just takes a while to fully bloom. I wasn't bored but I wasn't laughing my ass off either. Somehow I expected a bit more once I realized where this film is headed. It's a decent watch. (5.5/10)

I think the budget of this film was probably too small, but for that, the film definitely offers a different and unique storyline without over dramatizing anything. Yes, some scenes were a bit amateurish but in the bigger scheme of things, that can be overlooked. The film is both beautiful and sad in its own unique way. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground.
