Honestly I can't believe we're still getting BL series this bad in 2026. This mini series runs about 7 to 8 episodes with a total runtime of just about an hour and it is so boring that I genuinely struggle to find the words. The actors are awkward, the story is as basic as it gets and there is almost nothing about this show worth saving. The makers do try to stir up some drama here and there but even that falls completely flat. Ho Won is a 23 year old university student who spots a man sitting alone at a gay bar and gets attracted to him. The man is Min U, a 33 year old who brushes Ho Won off immediately saying he's too young. Ho Won lies about his age and since he's made a bet with the bartender that he'll get this man home before the night is over, he switches tactics and eventually the two end up at Min U's place and sleep together. Despite being complete opposites in every way there's some kind of pull between them and they go on a couple of dates. But t...
We have seen many queer rom-coms , so when I started to watch this film, I was wondering what will be the unique perspective that this film will bring to this genre. The one big difference that I felt that its 2020 and thankfully the film normalized gay/queer relationship as normally as any hetero normative movie would have done. Besides that, to be honest, the film doesn't have much unique or new to offer but at a crisp length of less than hour and a half, the movie manages to hold your attention.
The film is about Sam and his high school bully turned friend Harry and their relationship over the course of a few years. Sam has just broken up with his boyfriend and needs to go home for his friends engagement party. He is forced to take Harry with him, who used to bully him in high school. But in that road trip , he realizes that Harry is actually a very decent guy and is pansexual. There is mutual chemistry but Sam firmly believes that once you friend zone someone in gay relationship. if you start dating you will eventually end up losing both the lover and your friend. Few months later they meet a singles party and decide to become friends. Their friendship grows over a period where most of their friends think they are a couple. Harry feels very strongly for Sam but somethings holds back Sam. Harry (in frustration) makes out with Stasia, Sam's best friend all along and they start a relationship. This makes Sam really upset and hurt by the two people he loved the most and he can't bear the heartbreak . Over a year passes and this is when Stasia tells Sam that she is getting married but not to Harry. At her wedding Harry finally professes his love for Sam and begs him to give their friendship a try to move to being lovers. Love prevails and eventually the lovers are reunited after a small misunderstanding even after their love.
Th first thing that you notice in the film is the amazing chemistry that the actors share with each other. Sam and Stasia are the kind of friends you want to root for. Of course we all have issues, but that doesn't make us bad people. Similarly, the crackling chemistry that Sam shares with Harry is another one to look out for. Needless to say that the two men look extremely gorgeous, especially Harry. I feel as an audience we should have been told more backstory for Harry. Whey does he keep moving on from one relationship to there, especially when he is not a hook up kinda guy and wants something serious. It feels there is a gap somewhere here. As I mentioned above, one thing that stands out was that the film was about love and not about sexuality. There’s no shame, there’s no coming out moment. It’s just normalized and this is what separates this film to an extent from others.
Its a feel good film in the rom-com genre. Nothing ground shattering but not bad at all. It gives you exactly what you expect. Love, heart-break, chemistry and aww moments. (6/10)
